A man's body has been recovered from the River Shannon in Limerick City today.

A man's body has been recovered from the River Shannon in Limerick City today.

Emergency Services were alerted shortly before 10am today, after eye-witnesses reported seeing a person in the river holding onto a life buoy.

Valentia Coastguard coordinated the search and recovery operation.

The body of a man believed to be in his 20s was recovered just after 11am. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
