Man critically ill after Laois stabbing

A man is in a critical condition in hospital following a stabbing incident in Co Laois last night.

Gardaí have launched an investigation, but so far no arrests have been made.

It is understood a fight broke out between two men outside an apartment block on College Avenue in Mountmellick at around 8.40pm last night.

One man, who is 22 and believed to be Eastern European, was rushed to Tullamore General Hospital.

It is understood he sustained several stab wounds and is now in a critical condition.

Gardaí have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
