Part of the Quays in Dublin city centre is closed this morning after a pedestrian was hit by a car.

Part of the Quays in Dublin city centre is closed this morning after a pedestrian was hit by a car.

It happened near the Ha'penny Bridge on the northbound side just after 3am, and the man in his 20s been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

As a result, the Quays are closed from Capel Street to the Ha'penny Bridge on the northbound side.

Meanwhile motorists are being urged to take extreme care around Newlands Cross on the outskirts of Dublin.

All traffic lights at the junction are out of order following a collision, and Gardaí are on point duty.
