Consumer centre warns of bogus car-hire firms

The European Consumer Centre is warning travellers and tourists in Ireland to be vigilant over Christmas if hiring a car.

Recent data from the UK has shown an increase in the number of bogus car rental companies which take deposits online but cannot be found at the published address.

Caroline Curneen of the European Consumer Centre in Dublin said anybody hiring a car should watch out for deals that "seem too good to be true".
