Group calls for daytime use of car lights
There are renewed calls for legislation to enforce the use of car lights in daytime.
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport has said the lack of light during the winter months - particularly today, the shortest day of the year - highlights the need for cars to have their lights on all the time.
EU research shows the use of daytime car lights reduces multi-vehicle collisions by as much as 15%.
Institute President Aidan Murphy has even said car lights should also be used automatically during the summer.
