Better hand-washing leads to fall in superbug infections

New figures from the HSE show a drop in the number of cases of potentially fatal superbug infections in hospitals.

The number of MRSA cases fell by 14% in 2010, with infection rates at their lowest level for more than a decade.

The number of cases of C-Difficile fell by 11%.

Experts say the improvements have been helped by better hand-washing practices in hospitals.
