A Dublin man has today lost his appeal against his conviction for killing a taxi driver, who he stabbed over 40 times in full view of his girlfriend and young son.

Carlos Byrne (aged 24) was found guilty by a jury of murdering Mark Smyth in a knife attack at the Fortlawn Estate in Blanchardstown on March 18, 2008.
