The incident happened at Cluain Ard, Lis Na Dara in Dundalk after a taxi pulled up to a house in the estate shortly before 4am.

The vehicle was approached by a lone male who fired a number of gunshots into the car. A 35-year-old man sitting in the back seat was fatally injured.
