Howlin: Up to 9,000 public sector staff to retire by end of 2012

The Minister for Public Sector Reform Brendan Howlin has said he expects around 9,000 public sector workers to retire before the end of next year.

An early retirement scheme is underway in the public sector which would allow staff to retire on a pre-cuts pension.
