Some 359 people are waiting for treatment at the country's hospitals this evening.

'Trolley watch' figures from the Irish Nurses & Midwives Organisation show that our Lady of Lourdes in Drogheda and St Vincent's University hospital in Dublin have the highest number of patients awaiting admission, at 36 and 34 respectively.

Some 139 patients are on trolleys in the Eastern Region, with 220 in the other HSE regions.
