Govt raises price of cigarettes, alcohol untouched

The Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan, has announced that the price of a packet of cigarettes will increase by 25 cent from midnight tonight.

Mr Noonan said it will be applied to other tobacco on a pro-rata basis.
