Carbon tax to rise by €5 a tonne

The Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan, has announced that the carbon tax will increase from €15 to €20 per tonne, hitting motor fuels, coal and home heating fuels.

This will apply to petrol and diesel from midninght tonight.
