TV3 to broadcast Taoiseach's speech - after 'X Factor' semi-final
TV3 has decided it will broadcast the Taoiseach's address tomorrow night at 10.15pm, after the X Factor final.
In a statement issued this afternoon, the commercial station said it would also broadcast the address during its morning show Ireland AM from 7am on Monday.
It comes as Fine Gael TD Derek Keating earlier called on the Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte to investigate whether TV3 is in breach of the Broadcasting Act, by previously deciding not to broadcast the Taoiseach's address.
Enda Kenny's 10-minute speech will air on RTE One after the 9pm news.
Maureen Catterson, head of press and publicity at TV3, said the time slot suits RTE as it comes at a break in their programming, whereas TV3 will be in the middle of a live simulcast.
"I don't think TV3 was taken into consideration…However, we will facilitate our viewers at 10.15pm," she said.
