It has emerged this afternoon that an improvised explosive device, which the Army Bomb Disposal Team made safe earlier, was viable.

It has emerged this afternoon that an improvised explosive device, which the Army Bomb Disposal Team made safe earlier, was viable.

The team arrived at an abandoned building on Ballystruan Lane, just off Ballymun Road in Dublin at 10.05am this morning.

The team made safe the viable IED which was found in the building. No controlled explosion was carried out.

The object was removed, and the scene declared safe, at about 11am.

Investigators are now examining the scene.
