Monaghan turkey producer lands Tesco deal

Some 275 temporary jobs are on the way to Co Monaghan over the festive season.

Grove Turkeys has announced the capture of a €4.7m deal with Tesco to supply turkeys to the retail group's Irish and UK stores.

The deal will support the company's recruitment of an additional 275 seasonal staff to meet demand on the run-up to Christmas.

The company - established in 1972 - employs 100 permanent staff.

Tesco's annual contribution to the Irish economy is €2.5bn.
