The Minister for the Environment has set up a new expert group to tackle the health risks posed by radon gas.

Minister Phil Hogan said exposure to the gas contributes to about 200 lung cancer deaths in the country every year, with most exposure happening in the home.

The National Radon Strategy Group has been given two years to bring relevant public bodies together and come up with solutions to the problem.
