Crewman airlifted from submarine off Mayo coast

The Coastguard has been involved in an operation to help airlift an ill crewman from on board a British submarine located around 200 miles off the coast of Mayo.

An RAF helicopter refuelled at Blacksod in Mayo earlier this morning before proceeding to the submarine.

It is currently on its way to Sligo airport where it will refuel again before flynig back to Glasgow.

The crewman will be taken to hospital in Scotland for treatment.
