VAT hike 'will damage business'

The Government is being warned that any increase in the VAT rate will be detrimental to businesses and will result in major job losses.

The top rate of VAT is due to increase by 2% in next month's Budget, pushing our top rate of VAT up to 23%, 3% higher than the current rate in the North.
