Publicans warn of further job losses

The Vintners' Federation of Ireland said today that 30,000 jobs have been lost in the industry over the last four or five years, with the loss of a further 5,000 expected next year.

The Vintners' Federation of Ireland said today that 30,000 jobs have been lost in the industry over the last four or five years, with the loss of a further 5,000 expected next year.

The organisation, which promotes and protects the interests of vintners and publicans, is calling on the Government to protect the struggling pub industry.

Members of the organisation will be participating in a small demonstration at Government Buildings this afternoon where they will outline their demands.
