Govt spending €77m a year on Mortgage Interest Supplement

The taxpayer is subsidising the mortgages of 18,500 struggling borrowers, according to figures released by the Department of Social Protection.

The department said it is currently spending €77m a year on Mortgage Interest Supplement.
