Man accused of teenager's murder dies in hospital

The Central Criminal Court has heard that a Dublin man accused of murdering 15-year-old schoolboy Toyosi Shittabey has died after being taken to hospital this morning.

39-year-old Paul Barry was due to stand trial today for the teenager's killing in Tyrellstown last year.

He, along with his younger brother Michael Barry of Pigeon House Road, was charged last year with the murder of Toyosi Shittabey who was stabbed in Tyrellstown.

The two were to stand trial today but senior counsel Patrick Gageby informed the court that he had been instructed his client Paul Barry was deceased after he had been taken to hospital this morning.

Prosecution barrister Brendan Grehan said Gardaí had confirmed the accused's death while lawyers for Michael Barry said he had been in court earlier when he got a phone call to attend St James's Hospital.

Mr Justice Paul Carney has struck Paul Barry's name from the indictment and has put Michael Barry's trial back to later this month.
