Police probe alleged Derry sex attack

A teenage girl in Derry has allegedly been subjected to a serious sexual assault by a man wearing a Scream Halloween costume.

Police are investigating the report of a sex attack in the Edenmore Street/Northland Road area of the city before 1am today.

The girl’s alleged attacker was said to be dressed in black with his face covered by the blood-spattered white mask made famous by the 'Scream' films.

The suspected attack happened as Derry was packed with revellers for the traditional Halloween night festivities.

Officers from the PSNI’s rape crime unit have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

They particularly want to speak to a woman driving a dark- coloured car who picked the girl up after the incident.
