Minister to discuss cover for flood victims with insurance firms
The Junior Finance Minister with responsibility for the OPW, Brian Hayes, has said he has been liaising with the insurance industry federation to discuss the provision of home insurance for those affected by flooding.
Mr Hayes also said in the Dáil last night that if emergency funding is needed to deal with the hardship of the floods it will be forthcoming.
Hundreds of homes were damaged in Monday's deluge that saw a month's worth of rain fall in one day.
Labour TD for Dublin North Central Aodhán O'Riordán said many of those affected by flooding are not insured, because they have been flooded in previous years.
