Woman's body found in flooded Dublin basement
The body of a woman has been found in a flooded basement in Dublin.
Emergency services responding to a call from neighbours were called to the flooded basement on Parnell Road, Dublin 12 at about 11.00pm last night.
"A preliminary search of the basement was carried out by the Garda Water Unit at about 1am with negative results," a garda statement said.
"The body of a female was located earlier this morning when water was pumped from the basement by Dublin Fire Brigade."
The age of the woman is not known.
Meanwhile it has also emerged that a one-month old baby was among those rescued in Dublin yesterday, after getting stranded on the wrong side of flood waters.
A young mother and her baby - Alexander - got stranded when the DART ceased service in Sutton.
They pair were given assistance by the Howth Coast Guard to get home.
The Coast Guard was tasked yesterday evening by gardaí to assist with flooding that hit the capital.
