Aviva workers in the dark about which jobs will go
Workers at Aviva Insurance say they are still in the dark as to which jobs are to go after the company announced 950 redundancies.
The firm confirmed months of speculation today when it announced the redundancies from its Irish workforce of 2,000.
There will be no lay-offs until at least March of next year. Aviva said it hoped all the redundancies would be voluntary.
Trade union sources are claiming that a further 300 workers may be out-sourced.
A worker at the Aviva call centre in Galway told Galway Bay FM: "We haven’t been told a thing, nothing that we didn't hear on the news. They didn’t give us any update at all."
Another said: "If the jobs are gone, they're gone, but (we want to be able to make plans)."
