Banks have been asked to consider allowing householders a temporary break in mortgage repayments while they try to get their other debts back on track.

According to the Irish Times, the troika from the EU, ECB and IMF has joined with the Government in asking banks to look at a number of proposed reforms of Irish bankruptcy law.
