Two due in court after €5m Cork drugs seizure

Two men are due to appear in court later in connection with a drug seizure in Co Cork on Thursday, thought to be worth around €5m.

The two, a 45-year-old Corkman and a 56-year-old German were arrested by gardaí when they raided a lock-up near Bartlemy in Fermoy where they found 80 kgs of cocaine.

The two men were arrested under drug trafficking legislation and brought to Cobh Garda Station where detectives quizzed them about the massive drugs haul.

Meanwhile gardaí in Midleton are continuing to interview a 46-year-old Hungarian arrested on Thursday evening at the Port of Cork container terminal at Tivoli.

Officers from the Garda National Drugs Unit are continuing to question a 65-year-old man and his 42-year-old son arrested in Crumlin in Dublin as part of the same operation.
