Consumers Association welcomes Elderfield move

The head of the Consumers Association, Dermot Jewell, has welcomed the suggestion from the deputy of the Central Bank to clampdown on banks targeting homeowners with variable rate mortgages.

Mr Jewell said however it would prefer if an agreement could be put in place instead.
