Army bomb disposal team called to three incidents in 12 hours

The Army bomb disposal team has been called out to investigate three separate incidents in counties Dublin and Clare.

In Dublin, a device exploded under a 4X4 on Holycross Avenue in Dublin 3 at around 1.45am today.

The vehicle was damaged but no one was injured.

Around an hour later, a viable device was discovered at an address on the Clonliffe Road, in Drumcondra. The device has been removed for further analysis.

In Co Clare, the Army bomb disposal team was called to a private residence in Quinnpoole at around 2pm today.

An inert piece of World War Two ordnance was discovered during excavations. It was removed from the scene and the area has now been declared safe.
