Up to 142 jobs are to go at an electrical contractors in Co. Tipperary.

The job losses come after the JRE group in Clonmel confirmed that it is to cease trading.

The downturn in the construction industry is being blamed for the closure of the business, which also has regional offices in Dublin and Cork.

The JRE group has been operating from its headquarters on the Western Road in Clonmel since 1995.
