Meadhbh McGivern back in Ireland after transplant

Leitrim teenager Meadhbh McGivern was last night flown home after undergoing a life-saving liver transplant in London.

The 14-year-old was at the centre of a major investigation over the summer after a series of miscommunications meant she missed her first appointment for a transplant in July.

But last night Maedhbh was finally flown home on the Government jet after the transplant and is being cared for in hospital.

Her father Joe said the family was very relieved to have her back in Ireland.

"It was an extremely trying time…but we have a successful outcome," he said.
