Man still held in connection with fatal Roscommon fire

A man is still in custody in connection with a fatal house fire in Co Roscommon last Monday.

Five-year-old Mari Connolly died in the blaze which officers now believe was started maliciously.

Mari's father and two sisters escaped the fire. Their mother was not in the house, as she was in hospital recovering from the birth of twins.

The man, in his 30s, was arrested in the Sligo area and is being held at Boyle Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
