A man in his 30s was injured in the leg after being shot in Co Laois this morning.

A man in his 30s was injured in the leg after being shot in Co Laois this morning.

The incident happened at Hepburn Court on the Ballyfin road in Portlaoise at around 9am.

He has been taken to Portlaoise General Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A Garda investigation is underway.
