Gardaí name man found dead in Limerick

A post mortem is underway on the body of a man found dead in a flat in Limerick earlier today.

The man was named locally as 54-year-old Martin Purcell, of Wickham Street, Limerick city.

Mr Purcell, a separated father of two, was found in his home shortly before 11am.

It is believed he died after sustaining stab wounds to his body.

Gardaí at Henry Street in Limerick are appealing for information.
