According to today's Irish Independent report, the worst-effected hospital is Ennis General in Co. Clare, which has an absenteeism rate of over 9% a day. That means 22 workers ring in sick every day out of a staff of 238.

Some 94 workers at Sligo Regional Hospital ring in sick every day out of a workforce of 1,368.

Nationally, the HSE absenteeism rate is almost 5%, compared to a rate of 2.5% in the private sector.
