The issue of the €1m bonus paid to Irish Nationwide chief executive Michael Fingleton's may be coming to a head, Anglo chairman Alan Duke has hinted.

Anglo Irish Bank - which has taken over Irish Nationwide - has asked Mr Fingleton to repay the money and to return the €11,500 watch he received on his retirement.
