The Union of Students in Ireland is calling on the Minister for Education Ruairi Quinn to tackle the issue of funding in higher education.

The call comes following an article in today's Sunday Independent which reveals more than 190 lecturers and professors in third level colleges are earning an annual salary of more than €150,000, while three are earning more than €250,000 per year.

President of the Union of Students in Ireland Gary Redmond said the Government should hit these high earners, and not students by the reintroduction of fees.
