Man to face charges relating to 2009 Kilkenny tiger-kidnapping

A man has been arrested in relation to the false imprisonment of a bank official (former Kilkenny hurler Adrian Ronan) and his family in Kilkenny almost two years ago.

On November 3, 2009, an armed gang forced its way into the home of Adrian Ronan and his family.

They took his wife hostage in front of their children and demanded that Mr Ronan go to the Bank of Ireland on Parliament Street in Kilkenny city and hand over €3m in cash.

However the raid was later aborted. No money exchanged hands and no one was injured.

This morning, gardaí arrested a man in his 20s in north Dublin. He is to appear before Kilkenny District Court later.
