An information meeting is being held in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim later for staff at Bank of America's Irish office whose jobs are under threat.

An information meeting is being held in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim later for staff at Bank of America's Irish office whose jobs are under threat.

MBNA announced last month that it plans to quit the UK and Ireland credit card market, putting up to 1,000 workers at risk of losing their posts.

The IDA is working to secure a new buyer.

SIPTU spokesperson Adrian Kane said that whatever the outcome, the union would do what it could to help affected staff, including securing the best settlement packages possible.
