Study: Town councils most efficient element of local government
A new study has found that town councils are the most efficient element within the local government system.
The study, carried out by UCC on behalf of the Association of Municipal Authorities in Ireland, shows that town councils are significantly less reliant on central government funding, generating around three quarters of their own resources.
That is compared to 70% when it comes to city councils and 51% for county councils.
