HSE begins MMR vaccination response in north Dublin schools

The HSE has begun an MMR vaccination blitz in primary schools in Dublin's north inner city in response to a rapid rise in the number of measles in the area over the summer.

The HSE has begun an MMR vaccination drive in primary schools in Dublin's north inner city in response to a rapid rise in the number of measles in the area over the summer.

In 2000, a serious outbreak of measles in Dublin saw cases rise to as high as 1,600 and claimed the lives of three young children.

Vaccination clinics will take place today at the Central Model School, Marlborough Street and St Vincent's School, North William Street.

Tomorrow they will be held at St Laurence O'Toole School, Seville Place, Gardiner Street and they will take place at Holy Spirit School, Sillogue Road in Ballymun on Friday.

Further vaccination clinics will take place in primary schools in the area next week.
