The HSE has begun an MMR vaccination drive in primary schools in Dublin's north inner city in response to a rapid rise in the number of measles in the area over the summer.

In 2000, a serious outbreak of measles in Dublin saw cases rise to as high as 1,600 and claimed the lives of three young children.
