Boy dies following west Cork bike fall
A young boy has died after falling off his bicycle in west Cork.
It is understood the child, believed to be nine years old, hit his head off the ground when he fell off his bike outside his home near Ballydonegan beach in Allihies yesterday evening.
It is believed the boy's body was found by a neighbour who then raised the alarm.
Local councillor Jerry O'Sullivan said the boy was due to return to school this week.
"To think that there is one young lad less in the class is absolutely devastating for the area," he said.
"My sympathies go out to his mother, his father and his extended family."
