Two still held in connection with crime probe

Two men remain in garda custody this morning in connection with a garda inquiry into organised crime.

It follows an incident in Co Kildare on Sunday in which armed gardaí fired on a car after it failed to stop, and seized cash and firearms from another vehicle.

The latest to be detained was a man in his 20s who was arrested in the midlands yesterday afternoon.

The other man was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon.

Both men are being held at Naas garda station in Co. Kildare.

A third man - aged 30 - was released without charge on Tuesday evening, after having been questioned since Sunday.
