The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed it is providing consular assistance to the family of an Irishman who was shot dead in South Africa.

The body of the 53-year-old was found yesterday, along with that of his 34-year-old South African wife at their home in Alberton, on the outskirts of Johannesburg.
