Higgins 'very satisfied' with poll position

Michael D Higgins has said he is "very satisfied" with the findings of a poll that put him second place behind Gay Byrne in the race for the Áras.

The Labour candidate is trailing the broadcaster by seven points on 21% according to yesterday's Red C poll.

Michael D. Higgins said he was pleased with the reaction to him across the country.

He believes he is polling steadily, and said he is happy with that as it is still "nearly three months out from polling day".
