Adams denies plan to back Mickey Harte in presidential run

The Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams has denied rumours that his party is hoping to back Tyrone Football manager Mickey Harte as a candidate in the forthcoming presidential election.

Mr Adams said his party would not decide until the end of September whether it would put forward its own candidate or support one of the independent candidates.
