Paypal to create further 200 Dublin jobs

Online payments company PayPal is to create a further 200 new jobs at its Dublin base in Blanchardstown, the company announced today.

The positions are in areas including customer services, risk operations, sales and account management.

PayPal's European Operation Centre opened in Dublin in 2003 and employs over 1,350 people.

"PayPal has grown substantially in Ireland since it began here in 2003 and this is the second new jobs announcement we’ve had this year alone," said spokesperson Louise Phelan.

"This announcement is a testament to the excellent work and commitment of our current employees.

"We have gone from strength to strength since the official opening of our Centre of Excellence here in Blanchardstown two years ago. I would also like to thank the IDA for their continued support.”

Meanwhile Enterprise Minister Richard Bruton said he was determined that the Government will do everything possible to ensure that what he called a "very welcome" announcement can be replicated right across the country in the coming years.
