A 78-year-old woman was seriously injured when she was struck by car this morning in Naas, Co Kildare.

A 78-year-old woman was seriously injured when she was struck by car this morning in Naas, Co Kildare.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the incident, which took place at 7am at the junction of Loch Buí and Fairgreen Street.

<p> Volunteers attending the DMax 7.7 fitness event, in honour of Darragh McCarthy, who tragically passed away last year at just 21 years of age. The sold-out fitness event saw over 300 competitors take on DMax 7.7 featuring seven fitness stations, lasting seven minutes per station with a two minute transition between station. Competitors entered in teams of two and tested their strength, endurance and mental resilience across a series of challenges including rope skipping, ski-erg, medicine ball, assault bike, rowing, burpee box jumps and wall balls.
