Raiders hold up Cork bank with shotguns and sledge hammer
Gardaí are searching for two raiders who held up a bank on the outskirts of Cork city this morning, wearing balaclavas and armed with sawn-off shotguns and a sledge hammer.
The two held up staff at the Bank of Ireland at Hazelwood Shopping Centre in Glanmire at 10.20am today.
No one was injured but the raiders made off with an undisclosed amount of cash in a waiting getaway car.
The car was later found burnt out around two miles away at Windsor Hill in Glounthaune, where gardaí believe they may have had a second car waiting.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact gardaí at Glanmire or Cobh stations.
