Social worker shortage 'puts vulnerable children at risk'

Hundreds of urgent child protection reports are not being followed up due to a shortage of social workers, a report today claimed.

The Irish Times reported that social workers are having to ignore all but the worst of child protection cases due to a lack of staff - and vulnerable young people are at risk of ongoing abuse as a result.
